Eligibility:
· Good first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics
· PhD in relevant discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
· Developing ability to conduct individual research work, to disseminate results and to prepare research proposals
· Excellent IT skills and familiarity with a range of engineering software, preferably with experience of a product suite which incorporates integrated multi-physics analysis capabilities and encompasses deflections, temperature, vibration, bending reactions, shear, torsion, dynamic effects etc., and package analysis (at expert level) is highly desirable
· Experience of sensor design · Excellent knowledge of mechanical sensing technologies (e.g. accelerometers, proximity, probes, strain gauging, vibration sensors, etc.)
· Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise own workload whilst adhering to strict deadlines
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Good report writing skills
· Good presentation skills · Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and well as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Scholarship Description: The Centre for Advanced Condition Monitoring seeks to appoint a post-doctoral research associate to work on the design of robust sensing solutions for large offshore multi-MW wind turbine gearboxes. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on next generation condition monitoring solutions for offshore (and onshore) wind turbines. A rapid growth in offshore Wind Energy is expected over the next decade and this centre is working with leading industrial partners to deliver advanced CM solutions for wind turbine gearbox applications.
