Switzerlnad : Ph.D. position in Risk and Insurance Economics

The new Chair of Risk and Insurance Economics at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC) of ETH Zurich seeks to fill a Ph.D. position in microeconomics. The chair conducts research in insurance and health economics using methods developed in game and contract theory. A key ingredient is to model strategic behaviour of customers and firms or providers in insurance and health markets, with an emphasis on dynamic frameworks, in order to understand whether these markets work efficiently and how properly designed incentive systems, regulation and competition policy may improve market outcomes.

The position offers participation in the doctoral programme at D-MTEC and writing of a dissertation in the field of risk and insurance economics, health economics or a closely related field. At the chair, we intend to build up a young, committed team where research is pursued in an open and cooperative work environment. Participation in international conferences is strongly encouraged.

In order to apply, you must have successfully completed or be close to completion of the equivalent to a master’s degree in economics or a related area. A solid background in economics, in particular applied microeconomic theory, is expected. For further information, please contact Wanda Mimra ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The contract is for an initial period of two years with the possibility of extension.

Application Deadline : 20 February 2012
