Uppsala University hereby declares the following positions to be open for application:

Six doctoral studentships at the Graduate School for Psychosocial Care in the Interactive Society

at three different deparments.

Employment commences: 1 September 2012, or by agreement
You will work in U-CARE, a programme for caring research at Uppsala University with the overarching objective of preventing and reducing psychosocial illness in patients and their loved ones in connection with somatic diseases. To achieve this objective we integrate knowledge from different fields such as caring sciences, clinical psychology, health economics, and information system science. Eligibility: To be eligible you must have a degree in psychology or the equivalent. Specialization in cognitive behavioural therapy in the psychology programme is required.

Eligibility: To be eligible you must have a one-year master’s degree specializing in informatics/information system science, or the equivalent.

For employment as a doctoral student the holder of the position must be admitted or in the process of being admitted to research-level education, where the capacity to benefit from the research-level education is crucial. Regulations for doctoral students are found in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 1-7. Salary placement is in accordance with local guidelines at Uppsala University.

Duties: Holders of doctoral studentships are to devote themselves primarily to their own research-level education. Other duties at the respective department regarding teaching and administrative work can be included within the framework of the position (max 20%).

Applications must be written in English and include a CV, copies of diplomas and grade transcripts, and any previous publications (such as C- or D-level theses or drafts of such theses). Enclose a personal letter in which you state, among other things, what experience you have of participating in scientific work and the reasons why you wish to pursue research-level education. Further, append a research plan or a draft of such a plan relevant to U-CARE’s overarching objective and of an interdisciplinary character, of about 5 A4 pages in English. Also, enclose information about individual references and recommendation letters.

Selection among applicants is based on the following criteria: fulfilment of eligibility requirements, previous experience of work/research in closely related areas, and personal suitability. Selection is done at the respective departments. The accompanying research plan will be given great emphasis in this assessment.

Other favourable qualifications: Independence, initiative, and the capacity to collaborate with others are important personal characteristics.
