Germany: PhD fellowship at the German Institute for Polymers
Applications are invited from talented candidates to conduct a PhD at the German Institute for Polymers (Deutsches Kunststoff-Institut) in Darmstadt. Aim of the project is to develop advanced analytical techniques for the liquid chromatographic characterization of industrially relevant complex olefin copolymers. The project is funded by a large multinational company and will be conducted in close collaboration with the project partner.
A highly self motivated individual with a strong interest in polymer characterization is sought. Essential prerequisite is a distinguished degree (M.Sc., diploma, or equivalent) in the field of chemistry or polymer science/technology, with experience in either analytical or physical chemistry being a strong additional recommendation. The collaborative nature of the project requires a vital interest in application oriented research and enthusiasm in translating aspects and results of fundamental research into laboratory applications. The capability to effectively communicate and present research results on a regular basis is absolutely mandatory.
The successful candidate will join a world renowned team of international experts in the field of polymer characterization. Strong ties exist to research groups around the globe. Worldwide unique facilities for the instrumental analysis of polymers are available, with polyolefins being a major research focus.
The position is vacant from April 2012 onwards. The salary is equivalent to 50 % of a full researcher’s position. Informal e-mail enquiries will be welcomed and should be addressed to Robert Bruell (
