Denmark : PhD scholarship in Industrial Foundations
The Center for Corporate Governance at CBS invites applications for vacant PhD scholarship within the research area of Industrial Foundations. One PhD stipend will be available for the project The Industrial Foundations Project (for more information see our home page www.tifp.dk). Industrial foundations – charitable foundations which own companies – are a characteristic and special feature of the Danish Business community, and the projects.
We are looking for highly-motivated individuals with the capacity to combine qualitative and quantitative research methods. We offer an inspiring, multidisciplinary research environment, a strong international network and good connections to the business community. A 3 year scholarship provides a unique opportunity for professional and personal development which will be a valuable platform for a career in business as well as academics. Prior knowledge of economics, finance and company law will be an advantage, but functional expertise should also be combined with judgment and insight into business practices. For qualitative research projects (interviews) fluency in Danish may be important.
Corporate governance is “the control and direction of companies” by ownership, boards, incentive systems and other mechanisms. The CBS center is a forum for the advancement of knowledge in this area. It is truly interdisciplinary comprising researchers in finance, economics, accounting, law, management and international business. We have close links to the Danish business community and aim to create value by
improving corporate governance in practice.
The three-year PhD programme at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The programme is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student. See the CBS homepage for more information about the PhD programme, http://uk.cbs.dk/phd . It is also required that the applicant shows an interest in joining the Department’s research environment, see
