Eligibility:
In order to be eligible for a scholarship under the 5+3 PhD study programme the applicant must have completed a master´s degree successfully before starting his or her employment. PhD students are paid salary according to the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The PhD student has a work obligation of up to 840 hours over the three-year employment period without additional pay. The work obligation can include for instance teaching.

Scholarship Description:Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. The position is available from the 1st of April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The scholarship is an integrated part of the research project “Healthcare Regulation in the European Union: A Policy-Cycle Study of Complex Decision Making and Implementation”. The general research project examines the policy-cycle establishing cross-border healthcare in the European Union. The project combines a focus on the inter-institutional dynamics of EU policy-making with comparative research on implementation processes in selected member states. The PhD project is pre-deigned to undertake a study of implementation of the Directive on Patients rights in cross-border healthcare 2011/24/EU in selected member states of the candidate´s own choice and invited to look into which institutions and actors may influence national processes of implementation. The department welcomes applications within the field of political science and public administration, but will be especially interested in proposals, demonstrating theoretical and empirical interest in EU studies, health care regulation and/or comparative implementation research.
